Is Task Rabbit a Threat to Temporary Staffing Companies?

Task Rabbit claims to be reinventing staffing. The site has transformed itself from a neighbor-to-neighbor task and errand service to an online staffing destination for small to medium-sized businesses. Businesses can hire part-time and temporary employees through Task Rabbit for a fraction of the cost and time of traditional temporary staffing companies. Companies can view candidate’s resumes, videos, and cover letters on the site and hire an employee within minutes.

But is it a threat?

It has yet to be seen if Task Rabbit can remotely compare to the personalized service and industry expertise that a professional staffing company can bring to the table. Sure, hiring a freelance writer on a per-project basis may bode well for using online staffing sites like Task Rabbit. However, when it comes to finding the best and qualified full-time candidates, traditional temporary staffing agencies will come out ahead of online staffing agencies.

Traditional staffing agencies should expect to see a growing number of online staffing agencies, but there’s no reason to think they are a grave threat to the industry.
